Every day I read about an American “plan” to either invade some place new or to otherwise inflict pain to convince a “non-compliant” foreign government how to behave. Last week it was Iran but next week it could just as easily again be Lebanon, Syria or Venezuela. Or even Russia or China, both of whom are seen as “threats” even though American soldiers, sailors and marines sit on their borders and not vice versa. The United States is perhaps unique in the history of the world in that it sees threats everywhere even though it is not, in fact, threatened by anyone.
    Just as often, one learns about a new atrocity by Israelis inflicted on the defenseless Arabs just because they have the power to do so. Last Friday in Gaza the Israeli army shot and killed four unarmed demonstrators and injured 300 more while the Jewish state’s police invaded a Palestinian orphanage school in occupied Jerusalem and shut it down because the students were celebrating a “Yes to peace, no to war” poetry festival. Peace is not in the Israeli authorized curriculum.
    And then there are the Saudis, publicly chopping the heads off of 37 “dissidents” in a mass display of barbarity, and also murdering and dismembering a hapless journalist. And let’s not forget the bombing and deliberate starving of hundreds of thousands innocent civilians in Yemen.
    It is truly a troika of evil, an expression favored by US National Security Advisor John Bolton, though he was applying it to Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua, all “socialist” nations currently on Washington’s “hit list.” Americans, Saudis and Israelis have become monsters in the eyes of the rest of the world even if in their own minds they are endowed with special privilege due to their being “Exceptional,” “Chosen by God” or “Guardians of Mecca and Medina.” All three countries share a dishonest sense of entitlement that supports the fiction that their oppressive and often illegal behavior is somehow perfectly legitimate.
    To be sure not all Americans, Saudis or Israelis are individually monsters. Many are decent people who are appalled by what their respective governments are doing. Saudi citizens live under a despotism and have little to say about their government, but there is a formidable though fragmented peace movement in slightly less totalitarian Israel and in the United States there is growing anti-war sentiment. The discomfort in America is driven by a sense that the post 9/11 conflicts have only embroiled the country more deeply in wars that have no exit and no end. Unfortunately, the peace movement in Israel will never have any real power while the anti-war activists in America are leaderless and disorganized, waiting for someone to step up and take charge.
    An Iranian April Surprise?
    The current foreign policy debate centers around what Washington’s next moves in the Middle East might be. The decision-making will inevitably involve the US and its “close allies” Israel and Saudi Arabia, which should not surprise anyone. While it is clear that President Donald Trump ordered an attack on Iran before canceling the action at the last minute, exactly how that played out continues to be unclear. One theory, promoted by the president himself, is that the attack would have been disproportionate, killing possibly hundreds of Iranian military personnel in exchange for one admittedly very expensive surveillance drone. Killing the Iranians would have guaranteed an immediate escalation by Iran, which has both the will and the capability to hit high value targets in and around the Persian Gulf region, a factor that may also have figured into the presidential calculus.
    Trump’s cancelation of the attack immediately produced cries of rage from the usual neoconservative chickenhawk crowd in Washington as well as a more subdued reiteration of the Israeli and Saudi demands that Iran be punished, though both are also concerned that a massive Iranian retaliation would hit them hard. They are both hoping that Washington’s immensely powerful strategic armaments will succeed in knocking Iran out quickly and decisively, but they have also both learned not to completely trust the White House.
    To assuage the beast, the president has initiated a package of “major” new sanctions on Iran which will no doubt hurt the Iranian people while not changing government decision making one iota. There has also been a leak of a story relating to US cyber-attacks on Iranian military and infrastructure targets, yet another attempt to act aggressive to mitigate the sounds being emitted by the neocon chorus.
    To understand the stop-and-go behavior by Trump requires application of the Occam’s Razor principle, i.e. that the simplest explanation is most likely correct. For some odd reason, Donald Trump wants to be reelected president in 2020 in spite of the fact that he appears to be uncomfortable in office. A quick, successful war would enhance his chances for a second term, which is probably what Pompeo promised, but any military action that is not immediately decisive would hurt his prospects, quite possibly inflicting fatal damage. Trump apparently had an intercession by Fox news analyst Tucker Carlson, who may have explained that reality to him shortly before he decided to cancel the attack. Tucker is, for what it’s worth, a highly respected critic coming from the political right who is skeptical of wars of choice, democracy building and the global liberal order.
    The truth is that all of American foreign policy during the upcoming year will be designed to pander to certain constituencies that will be crucial to the 2020 presidential election. One can bank on even more concessions being granted to Israel and its murderous thug prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu to bring in Jewish votes and, more importantly, money. John Bolton was already in Israel getting his marching orders from Netanyahu on the weekend and Pence was effusive in his praise of Israel when he spoke at the meeting in Orlando earlier in the week launching the Trump 2020 campaign, so the game is already afoot. It is an interesting process to observe how Jewish oligarchs like Sheldon Adelson contribute tens of millions of dollars to the politicians who then in turn give the Jewish state taxpayer generated tens of billions of dollars in return. Bribing corrupt politicians is one of the best investments that one can make in today’s America.
    Trump will also go easy on Saudi Arabia because he wants to sell them billions of dollars’ worth of weapons which will make the key constituency of the Military Industrial Complex (MIC) happy. And he will continue to exert “maximum pressure” on Iran and Venezuela to show how tough he can be for his Make America Great audience, though avoiding war if he possibly can just in case any of the hapless victims tries to fight back and embarrass him.
    So, there it is folks. War with Iran is for the moment on hold, but tune in again next week as the collective White House memory span runs to only three or four days. By next week we Americans might be at war with Mongolia.“

Die Leiden sind eng verwandt: Genau wie bei vCJK weichen bei Kuru Regionen des menschlichen Gehirns schwammartig auf und zerstören auf diese Weise das Denkorgan.
    Überdies werden beide Erkrankungen durch Gehirn und Gewebe aus dem Rückenmark übertragen. Die Fore aßen aus rituellen Gründen die Gehirne ihrer infizierten Toten und steckten sich dadurch an, wie der spätere Nobelpreisträger Carleton Gajdusek in den fünfziger Jahren als Erster entdeckte. Die Europäer verzehrten BSEkranke Kühe. Eng verwandt ist auch die Natur des Erregers: vCJK wie Kuru werden durch infektiöse Eiweißmoleküle, so genannte Prionen, ausgelöst.
    Umso beängstigender klingt deshalb, was John Collinge, BSE-Experte am St. Mary’s Hospital in London und Regierungsberater, in der vorvergangenen Woche auf einem Kongress in der englischen Hauptstadt verkündete: Kuru sei weitaus ansteckender, als die Wissenschaft bisher befürchtet hatte.
    Das hat Collinge jetzt durch die Untersuchung von elf älteren Kuru-Opfern aus Neuguinea festgestellt: Obwohl die Erkrankten seit 40 Jahren kein Menschenfleisch mehr angerührt hatten, war der todbringende Hirnschwamm doch noch ausgebrochen.
    Nicht nur die extrem lange Inkubation erregt Besorgnis. Alle Opfer hatten zudem eine ganz bestimmte genetische Ausstattung, die man bisher eigentlich für einen besonders wirksamen Schutz gegen Kuru hielt. Nun zeigt sich: Kein Mensch ist dank seiner guten Erbanlagen gegen Kuru immun – und das gilt wohl auch für die eng verwandte vCJK.
    Dabei hatten Wissenschaftler bisher immer wieder beschwichtigt: Die Mehrheit der Menschen sei auf Grund bestimmter Gene von Natur aus resistent gegen das neuartige Hirnleiden. Die Theorie basiert auf Gentests an den bisher 88 vCJK-Toten und Kranken in Großbritannien. Sämtliche Opfer trugen eine ganz bestimmte Gen-Variante auf dem Chromosom 20: Sie begünstigt die Zusammenballung der giftigen Prionen im Gehirn, falls man mit dem Erreger in Kontakt kommt.
    In Großbritannien tragen 37 Prozent der Menschen dieses Verhängnis in ihren Genen – die übrigen 63 Prozent der Bevölkerung hingegen schienen gefeit gegen die neue Form der Creutzfeldt-Jakob-Krankheit.
    Die Ergebnisse des Kuru-Forschers Collinge lassen das jetzt mehr als vage erscheinen – vermutlich ist jeder Mensch anfällig. Unter der Mehrheit der noch gesunden Menschen mit den scheinbar schützenden Genen bricht der Hirnschwamm möglicherweise nur später aus als unter der anfälligeren Minderheit. „vCJK könnte jeden bedrohen, der dem infektiösen Agens ausgesetzt war“, warnt das englische Wissenschaftsblatt „New Scientist“.
    Unversehens erscheinen die 88 vCJK-Opfer wie Vorboten einer Epidemie, die erst noch kommen wird. Millionen von Briten, aber auch Kontinentaleuropäer haben nach Bekanntwerden der BSE-Seuche Beef und Burger verschlungen, als sei nichts geschehen. Jene, die sich dabei infizierten, werden womöglich erst in vier Jahrzehnten krank werden.
    John Collinge jedenfalls geht von einem lang anhaltenden Seuchenzug aus: Fälle von vCJK, prophezeit der Mediziner, werde man „sicherlich noch bis in die zweite Hälfte des Jahrhunderts sehen“.

    „Just last week, the world’s leading snooping powers quietly and without notice issued a disturbing warning to tech giants, telling them to surrender unprecedented backdoor access to their citizens‘ data.
    Not many people know this, but the United Kingdom has some of the most extreme spying powers in the developed world. At the end of 2016, passing what some people called the „Snooper’s Charter,“ the UK put into law some of the most draconian anti-privacy laws that we have ever known, allowing its government to compel companies to break their own encryption.
    The UK plays a pivotal part in the so-called Five Eyes alliance, which also includes the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Nobody knew it at the time, but the American military base which my family and I grew up next to has played a crucial role in delivering US drone strikes across the Middle East and beyond. America’s drone-strike regime, largely considered illegal for numerous reasons, is not something that countries should willingly participate in lightly and without public scrutiny.
    Why am I mentioning this? Because it goes to the very heart of my point: the extent to which we know or do not know what our governments are doing behind closed doors is quite literally a matter of life and death.
    Now, it has been revealed that the Five Eyes alliance, dedicated to a global „collect-it-all“ surveillance task, has issued a memo calling on their governments to demand that tech companies build backdoor access for states to access users‘ encrypted data or face measures that will force companies to comply.
    ‘Five Eyes’ govt spy ring seeks laws to make big tech companies share encrypted messages.
    The memo was released quietly with little media coverage last week by the Australian Department of Home Affairs, and essentially demanded that providers „create customized solutions, tailored to their individual system architectures that are capable of meeting lawful access requirements.“ The memo was reportedly released after ministers for the intelligence agencies of the Five Eyes nations met on Australia’s Gold Coast last week.
    The most laughable aspect, of course, was the opening sentence, which ironically reads: the „governments of the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and New Zealand are committed to personal rights and privacy, and support the role of encryption in protecting those rights.“
    Yes, of course. Also worthy of note is the order in which those countries appear in the memo, clearly ranking from biggest bully in the playground to the push-over child at school who is just happy and content to be a part of the „club.“
    If we are to take the memo at its face value, end-to-end encryption is potentially our best friend. The memo itself admits that some encrypted data is nearly impossible for intelligence agencies to crack on their own, as they are struggling to make sense of the data they are currently intercepting. This is why they are forcibly calling on the world’s leading tech providers to do their work for them.
    Will those tech companies cave in to these government’s demands? You can bet your bottom dollar that eventually, yes, they very well might. While Facebook did not comment directly on the memo, instead attempting to refer questions to a public blog that the social media giant published in May explaining its policies on encryption, there is one important ingredient missing from the future of these policies.
    After Donald Trump was elected in 2016, the US establishment and its media cohorts went into a „fake news“ frenzy that saw Barack Obama deliver a stern attack on Facebook directly, supposedly being one of the main disseminators of fake news. Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook’s CEO and founder, completely dismissed the idea that Facebook played a substantial role in this… Despite this statement, hoping no one had noticed, barely a few days later, Facebook then announced it was adopting a string of measures to fight „fake news“ after all.

    Why the sudden change in heart? Could it be that, according to the Washington Post, in that trivial space of time, Barack Obama personally pulled aside Zuckerberg in a private room, on the sidelines of a meeting of world leaders in Peru, so that the president could make a personal appeal to Zuckerberg to take the threat of „fake news“ more seriously?
    In other words, these big companies will always inevitably cave to government pressure whether or not they even agree with what these governments are saying. According to the New York Times, one Facebook official said that the Australian memo had „no teeth,“ but was in fact „part of an escalating war between governments and Silicon Valley tech giants over access to people’s private data.“
    In that context, the warnings speak for themselves. The companies who do not comply with these nations‘ demands will be hit with „technological, enforcement, legislative, or other measures to achieve lawful access solutions,“ according to the memo, which does not detail what sort of measures these will be. Also unclear is how much access and to what, exactly, the governments of the Five Eyes are proposing. However, it seems likely that the least it would allow each government is access to encrypted call and message data relating to their citizens.
    Given that Facebook has been breaching our privacy in favor of government agencies for a long time now, you can rest assured that Zuckerberg will not put up any meaningful resistance to this new decree issued by the Five Eyes network.
    This idea of „fake news“ and still-unsubstantiated claims of extensive foreign interference in Western democracies more or less set the tone for the Five Eyes gathering in Australia. Perhaps, just perhaps, the aim of these governments was not to discuss what to do about child-trafficking or international crime as they claim, but actually something more broadly related to containing these powers‘ number-one adversary (here are two clues).

    It is worth noting that there has been next to no criticism of these Five Eyes powers for delivering such a blatant attack on our right to privacy. Remember that, of course, Russian President Vladimir Putin is attempting to „wrest control of the internet,“ as the Guardian wrote approximately three years ago. But these same Western media companies are awkwardly silent about what their own governments are proposing to do, something which other nations could only dream about achieving on such a global scale.
    It needs to be said that now is the time to start paying attention. If you think the same governments that facilitate terrorism all over the planet want to access your data to in good faith to do nothing other than foil terrorist plots, you are nothing short of naïve.
    Privacy matters, whether you think you matter or not; and if you don’t believe me, who better to demonstrate this point than Mark Zuckerberg himself?
    „This same division can be seen with the CEO of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, who in an infamous interview in 2010 pronounced that privacy is no longer a ’social norm,’“ journalist Glenn Greenwald noted in his TEDtalk, „Why Privacy Matters.“
    „Last year, Mark Zuckerberg and his new wife purchased not only their own house but also all four adjacent houses in Palo Alto for a total of $30 million in order to ensure that they enjoyed a zone of privacy that prevented other people from monitoring what they do in their personal lives,“ Greenwald continued.
    So, why does all of this matter anyway? If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear, am I right?
    Firstly, security researchers and other critics of these backdoor access proposals have stated time and time again that there is no workable way to create a „secure backdoor“ that would not be vulnerable to intercept by hackers who have not been sanctioned access to the data.
    Secondly, this line of nonsensical thinking was graciously debunked and tossed into the fire, never to be seen again, by none other than infamous whistleblower Edward Snowden, who stated:
    „…privacy isn’t about something to hide. Privacy is about something to protect. That’s who you are. Privacy is baked into our language, our core concepts of government and self in every way. It’s why we call it ‚private property.‘ Without privacy you don’t have anything for yourself.“
    „Arguing that you don’t care about privacy because you have nothing to hide is like arguing that you don’t care about free speech because you have nothing to say.“
    For those of us who have plenty to say, the memo is nothing but an attack on all our fundamental rights and freedoms, and should be rejected in the same manner in which the media has chosen to ignore it.

    According to an article in the German press by the journalist and author Gaby Weber, Germany’s central bank – the Bundesbank – helped finance Bayer’s takeover of Monsanto with European taxpayers’ money.
    Three years ago, Bayer CEO Werner Baumann launched his bid to buy Monsanto. He promised it would make Bayer a global player and provide huge dividends for shareholders. According to Weber, greed prevented a prudent risk analysis. As a result, says Weber, Bayer’s stock is now in the doldrums, there are astronomical claims for damages coming from the US, and Bayer is threatened with takeover or bankruptcy.
    Unfortunately, the buck stops not with Bayer’s shareholders or its managers, says Weber, but with the taxpayer. In the face of impending bankruptcy, the German government will probably step in – as it did in the banking crisis. The Bundesbank will also incur considerable losses in such a situation because it was the Bundesbank that financed a large part of the purchase of Monsanto, via a programme of the European Central Bank (ECB), which gets its money from European taxpayers.
    A spokesman for the ECB, William Lelieveldt, has confirmed to Weber that the Bayer bonds were purchased under the ECB’s asset purchasing programme. But Weber says Lelieveldt wouldn’t disclose the exact amount or the interest rate.
    Weber says Lelieveldt claimed that „risk management considerations“ were employed. But Lelieveldt did not spell out what exactly these were. The bonds are in the portfolio of the Bundesbank. Weber’s applications for the risk assessment are pending in Brussels and in Frankfurt. She says if she’s denied the information, she will seek legal remedies.
    Weber also has a lawsuit against Bayer AG to force the company to publish its due diligence report. Her case will be heard on 12 September before the Higher Regional Court of Cologne.
    Bayer, which promises „higher standards of transparency“, paid $62 billion for Monsanto. A quarter of that is said to have come from equity, from sales of company shares to BASF, which the US Securities and Exchange Commission had demanded, and from the sale of materials manufacturer Covestro. In addition, Bayer had issued new shares through a capital increase and engaged Bank of America, Crédit Suisse, and Haus Rothschild for the remainder.
    The Bundesbank’s head, Weidmann, has applied for the position of ECB president. But, according to Weber, having given European taxpayers‘ money to Monsanto’s shareholders, his chances of getting the top job are falling along with Bayer’s share price.“

    Es ist Sommer und eines sollte uns bewusst sein, wenn man zu Hause losfährt oder nach einem Stadtbummel oder einem Spaziergang wieder ins geparkte Auto steigt, dann sollte man zuerst einmal durchlüften. Warum?
    Der ganze Kunststoff im Auto enwickelt Gase
    Weil im Autoinneren sehr viel Kunststoff verbaut ist, und der gast aus. Je wärmer, umso mehr. Wer in ein Auto steigt, was länger in der prallen Sonne geparkt war, der bemerkt das schon an dem Plastikgeruch, der deutlich wahrnehmbar ist. Dann befinden wir uns aber schon in einer Gaskammer, mit einer höchst gefährlichen Konzentration giftiger Gase. Steht das irgendwo in der Bedienungsanleitung? Nein. Natürlich nicht. In manchen Bedienungsanleitungen steht, man möge doch, bevor man die Klimaanlage anschaltet, die Fenster öffnen und frische Luft ins Auto lassen. Warum man das so besorgt anempfohlen bekommt, steht da nicht. Das hat seinen guten Grund. Aber dazu kommen wir gleich noch.
    Die ganzen Kunststoffbestandteile im Auto entwickeln im geschlossenen Fahrzeug schon bei mäßig warmen Temperaturen Benzol- und Formaldehyd-Ausgasungen. Diese beiden Gase sind die giftigsten. Der Bund für Umwelt- und Naturschutz hat aber festgestellt, das ist noch lange nicht alles. Etwa 100 giftige Chemikalien machen aus dem Auto eine Gaskammer. Die Chemikalien stammen aus dem Kunststoff, den Lacken, den Textilien und der Klimaanlage. Außer den als krebserregend eingestuften Chemikalien Formaldehyd und Benzol gibt es noch weitere 50 flüchtige organische Stoffe – und das in Gesundheitsschädlichen Konzentrationen – je nach Temperatur im Auto.
    100 giftige Gase im Auto – aber Benzol und Formaldehyd sind auch krebserregend
    Benzol zum Beispiel greift die Knochen an, undschädigt die Zellen im Knochenmark, die für die Blutbildung zuständig sind. Das Ergebnis kann schon bei leichter, aber stetiger Exposition Anämie verursachen, ist man den Benzoldämpfen länger ausgesetzt, kann dadurch eine Leukämie entstehen. Die zulässige Obergrenze für Benzoldämpfe in geschlossenen Räumen beträgt 50 mg. Ein geparktes Auto mit geschlossenen Fenstern bringt es aber schon im Schatten leicht auf 400 – 800 mg Benzol. Wird das Auto in der Sonne geparkt, steigt der Benzolspiegel auf 2000-4000 mg, das ist das 40fache des zugelassenen Höchstwertes. Wer also in einen Backofen von Auto steigt, der in der Sonne stand und richtig schön nach Chemie stinkt, der atmet reines Gift ein. Während die Knochen und das Knochenmark lange braucht, bis sich eine Leukämie deswegen entwickelt hat, schädigt die Benzolsauna recht schnell Leber und Niere.
    Patricia Cameron, die Expertin für Chemie beim BUND gibt zu bedenken „Der Giftcocktail in den Autos ist Besorgnis erregend. Die Konzentration der Chemikalien überschreitet die erlaubten Grenzwerte teilweise um ein Vielfaches. Wenn Wissenschaftler beispielsweise für Formaldehyd einen Maximalwert von 0,125 Milligramm pro Kubikmeter Luft empfehlen, in Autos aber die dreifache Menge gefunden wird, muss dringend gehandelt werden.“
    Formaldehyd steht Benzol in seiner Gesundheitsschädlichkeit in nichts nach. Auf der Seite des Umweltbundesamtes finden wir zu Formaldehyd folgendes: „Nachdem Formaldehyd bislang in der EU als „kann vermutlich Krebs erzeugen“ (Kategorie 2 gemäß CLP-Verordnung) eingestuft war, wurde es im Juni 2014 durch die EU aufgrund neuer Erkenntnisse als „kann Krebs erzeugen“ (Kategorie 1 B gemäß CLP-Verordnung) eingestuft. Eine Einstufung in die Kategorie 1B erfolgt, wenn ausgehend von tierexperimentellen Daten und Erfahrungen am Menschen angenommen werden kann, dass eine Substanz beim Menschen Krebs erzeugen kann. Bei Formaldehyd entwickelten Ratten, die wiederholt hohe Konzentrationen des Stoffes eingeatmet hatten, im Laufe ihres Lebens Tumoren in der Nasenhöhle. Einige wissenschaftliche Studien, die die Auswirkungen von hohen Formaldehyd-Belastungen am Arbeitsplatz untersucht haben, fanden bei den exponierten Personen im weiteren Verlauf ihres Lebens mehr Fälle von Krebs in der Nasenhöhle und im Nasenrachenraum als (ohne Formaldehyd) erwartet wurde.““
    „Kampfstoffgas aus der Klimaanlage – um das Klima zu schützen
    Wer nun meint, man könne ja einfach die Klimaanlage eimschalten, dann kühlt das ja alles schnell ab, der täuscht sich. Mit der kühleren Luft kommt auch gleich ein neues Gift ins Auto. Das neue Kältemittel R123 steht unter Verdacht, einen hochtoxischen Stoff freizugeben. Carbonylfluorid. Chemiker der Ludwig-Maximilian-Universität in München berichten, dass dieses Carbonylfluorid ein chemischer Abkömmling eines Kampfstoffes ist:
    „Carbonylfluorid ist ein Abkömmling des Kampfstoffs Phosgen, der im ersten Weltkrieg eingesetzt wurde. Bereits Fluorwasserstoff (Flusssäure) ist stark ätzend und so giftig, dass eine handtellergroße Verätzung zum Tod führen kann. Das Gift bindet das Kalzium im Körper, was Herzversagen auslöst, wenn kein Gegenmittel aufgetragen wird. Carbonylfluorid ist noch toxischer, da es leichter in den Körper eindringen kann. Es reizt die Augen, Haut und Atemwege. Wird Carbonylfluorid eingeatmet, kann es schlimmstenfalls die Lungenbläschen verätzen, in den Blutkreislauf eindringen und zum Tod führen.“
    Du fragst Dich, warum zum Teufel so ein grauenhaft giftiges Zeug in die Klimaanlage kommt und uns regelrecht vergast? Nun, aus Umweltschutzgründen und um das Klima zu retten. Nein, kein Witz. Prof. Andreas Kornath, der sie Untersuchung des Kältemittels gemacht hat, erklärt:
    „Aufgrund von Vorgaben der EU sind die Autohersteller verpflichtet, neue Kältemittel für die PKW-Klimaanlagen zu verwenden. Das bisherige Kältemittel R134a ist in der EU seit dem Jahr 2011 in neuen Autotypen verboten, da es zur Klimaerwärmung beiträgt. In Deutschland ist das neue Kältemittel R1234yf bereits seit Längerem umstritten. Es gab bereits von verschiedenen Institutionen und auch Autoherstellern Tests, in denen festgestellt wurde, dass sich R1234yf bei Unfällen entzünden kann, und bei denen der Austritt von Flusssäure (Fluorwasserstoffsäure) nachgewiesen wurde.“
    „Bisherige Risikoanalysen der Hersteller des neuen Kältemittels haben Carbonylfluorid jedoch ignoriert. Angesichts unserer Ergebnisse regen wir an, die Risiken des Kältemittels R1234yf neu zu bewerten“, sagt Kornath. Seit 2017 müssen alle neuzugelassenen Fahrzeuge in der EU den neuen Grenzwert für das sogenannte Global Warming Potential (GWP) – das Treibhauspotenzial – beim Kältemittel einhalten.
    In wirklich gefährlichen kampfstofftauglich-tödlichen Mengen wird das Carbonylfluorid allerdings nur freigesetzt, wenn es verbrennt. Das kann aber bei Unfällen oder einem überhitzten Motor leicht passieren, weil der Stoff entzündlich ist. Immerhin gibt es 40.000 Autobrände im Jahr. Der Hersteller des Kältemittels, Honeywell, sieht dagegen keinen Grund zur Besorgnis. Momentan werde außerdem an einer Alternative zu R1234yf gearbeitet: das Kältemittel CO2, berichtet das Umweltbundesamt.
    Leute, macht die Fenster auf!
    Wenn Ihr ins Auto steigt, macht am besten eine Weile die Fenster auf und einen Luftaustausch, damit die ganzen Kunststoff-, Lack- und Textilfarbendämpfe rausgehen und das Benzol und Formaldehyd herausgeweht wird. Ein kleiner Trost für die, die ein altes Auto fahren: Nach und nach lässt die Ausgasung nach. In den ersten Monaten werden in Neuwagen wirklich kritische Werte erreicht. Nach ein par Jahren kommt fast nichts mehr herausgedampft (vielleicht außer, wenn es wirklich absolut heiß in der Karre geworden ist).“

    „Susanne Colell: Das ist seit Jahren bekannt und eigentlich kann sich das auch jeder mit einigermaßen normal ausgestattetem Intellekt selber zusammenreimen. Das erklärt auch die hohe Konzentration im Blut von einer Dame, die täglich mit dem Auto eine halbe Stunde zur Arbeit fuhr. Ihr Mann benutzte das Rad, bei ihm konnten keine Rückstände im Blut nachgewiesen werden.     Dass die Autoindustrie zu Gunsten des Verbrauchers etwas ändern muss. Vielleicht wg Körperverletzung anzeigen?!
    Die Autoindustrie schafft es nicht, die Emmissionswerte niedrig zu halten…der Bürger wird durch Umweltzonen rausgehalten und durch Nachrüstung oder Neukauf zur Kasse gebeten. DIE Autoindustrie vergiiftet uns seit Jahrzehnten mit den Ausdünstungen des Kunststoffes…aber es wird nicht zum Thema gemacht – der Bürger bekommt ja den Krebs…! DESHALB: Bevor ihr darüber nachdenkt, den Verbraucher erneut mit einer „Umweltsteuer“ zu belasten, sorgt erstmal dafür, dass wir ein normales Leben führen können und verpflichtet die Industrie, wo es möglich ist auf plastikfreie Materialien zurückzugreifen, um uns zu schützen!!! Das erwarten wir! Und nicht nur beim Autofahren…Handelt endlich…ihr Schläfer!“

Bei der heutigen Vereidigung der neuen Justizministerin Christine Lambrecht im Schloss Bellevue hat Bundeskanzlerin Angela Merkel erneut einen Zitteranfall gehabt: Bei der Rede von Bundespräsident Frank-Walter Steinmeier zittert Angelas Merkels Beine stark, ihre ganze Haltung wirkt krampfartig, genau wie bei ihrem ersten Schwächeanfall vor neun Tagen. Im Video sehen Sie, wie Angela Merkel versucht, die Haltung während des fast zweiminütigen Zitteranfalls zu bewahren.
    Dr. Christoph Specht erklärt, was hinter ihrem erneuten Schwächeanfall stecken könnte. Kreislaufprobleme aufgrund der Hitze oder doch mehr?
    Dr. Spechts Differenzialdiagnose: Es könnte ein Infekt sein
    „Grundsätzlich ist es schwierig, eine Ferndiagnose zu stellen. Ich sehe aber, dass die Bundeskanzlerin keinen Schwächeanfall aufgrund der Hitze hat. Angela Merkel befindet sich während der Vereidigung im Schloss Bellevue und die Räume sind auf jeden Fall klimatisiert“, erklärt uns Dr. Specht.
    Er vermutet, dass es sich um einen Infekt handelt: „Angela Merkel hat Schüttelfrost. Das deutet auf einen Infekt hin, der immer wieder aufflammt. Der Schüttelfrost geht schnell wieder weg, doch der Infekt ist oft die Ursache einer anderen Krankheit. Es könnte sich, vorsichtig ausgedrückt, zum Beispiel um eine Nierenbeckenentzündung handeln oder um eine Sepsis, was ich aber ausschließe, da Angela Merkel die Kraft hat, zu stehen. Vielleicht ist sie auch stark unterzuckert, was auf Diabetes hinweisen könnte. Eine neurologische Krankheit, wie altersbedingter Tremor, wo auch ein Zittern auftritt, oder Parkinson, schließe ich aber definitiv aus. Doch um wirklich die Ursache herauszufinden und somit eine sichere Diagnose zu stellen, müsste Angela Merkel für ein, zwei Tage stationär untersucht werden. Es ist gut möglich, dass dies bereits gemacht worden ist. Wahrscheinlich standen der Bundeskanzlerin auch während der Vereidigung Ärzte bei.“
