    „Die Behandlung mit einem Malariamittel endete für mehrere Corona-Erkrankte tödlich. Die Dosis sei zu hoch gewesen und löste schwere Herzrhythmusstörungen aus.
    Rund um den Globus wird derzeit nonstop an einem möglichen Medikament und einem Impfstoff gegen das neuartige Coronavirus gearbeitet. Aber nicht nur an neuen Mitteln wird geforscht, sondern zahlreiche Studien testen derzeit, ob vielleicht bereits vorhandene Medikamente bei der Behandlung von SARS-CoV-2 helfen.
    Viele Experten glauben, dass das Malariamittel Resochin hier zum Einsatz kommen könnte. Besonders dessen Wirkstoff Chloroquin sei dabei wichtig. Kleine Studien in China und in Frankreich sollen gezeigt haben, dass es die Vermehrung des Coronavirus hemmt und so schlimme bis tödliche Verläufe minimiert werden.
    Daher starteten mehrere Länder eigene Studien mit dem Malariamittel. Besonders tragisch ging eine solche Phase-II-Studie in Brasilien aus. Hier starben gleich elf von insgesamt 81 Coronavirus-Patienten an tödlichen Herzrhythmusstörungen oder Herzmuskelschäden. Schuld daran sollen die hohen Dosen an Chloroquin in Verbindung mit dem Antibiotikum Azithromycin sein. Da die Covid-19-Patienten meist deutlich älter als der durchschnittliche Malaria-Patient sind und auch oft unter Vorerkrankungen leiden, ist dieser Medikamenten-Cocktail besonders gefährlich.
    Finanziert wurde die verheerende Studie vom brasilianischen Staat und das obwohl sie für eine Phase-II viel zu klein war. Hier wären eigentlich 450 Teilnehmer notwendig. Die Daten der Studie liegen dem Portal „“MedRxiv“ vor. Placebo-Gruppen gab es nicht. Eine Hälte der Teilnehmer wurde über fünf Tage hinweg zweimal täglich eine Dosis von 450 Milligram Chloroquin verabreicht. Der anderen Hälfte wurde zehn Tage lang einmal täglich über 600 Milligramm verabreicht und das obwohl dies über dem Wert der vorgeschlagenen Dosierung der chinesischen und US-amerikanischen Behörden liegt.
    Die Folge: bei den Patienten mit der hohen Dosierung traten nach zwei bis drei Tagen Herzrhytmusstörungen auf. Am sechsten Tag starben waren elf von ihnen tot. Die Studie wurde sofort abgebrochen.“
