Bereits vor einem Jahr gab es Berichte, nach denen Handydaten vom BND an die USA weitergeleitet worden seien, was in einen Drohnenangriff in Afghanistan gemündet habe. Drake beklagte laut dem Radiobericht weiter, beide Geheimdienste streuten «kryptologischen Sand» in die Augen der Menschen, um ihre Verbindungen und «geheimen Schattenbeziehungen» zu verschleiern.
