Die EU-Behörde für Lebensmittelsicherheit Efsa hat die Verwendung von Titandioxid als Lebensmittelzusatzstoff als nicht sicher eingestuft. Nach Auswertung neuer Studien könne eine krebserregende Wirkung des als Farbstoff E171 bekannten Mittels nicht ausgeschlossen werden, erklärte die im italienischen Parma ansässige Behörde am Donnerstag.
E171 ist häufig in Süßigkeiten, Backwaren, Suppen und Soßen enthalten. Ein grauer Kaugummi kann durch die Beigabe von E171 beispielsweise strahlend weiß eingefärbt werden. Es kann in Dragees, Marshmallows oder Kaugummis verwendete werden, in Zahnpasta und Kosmetik, in Sonnencreme, Medikamenten, Lackfarben und Wandfarben.
In Lebensmitteln wird es als „E171“ bezeichnet, in Kosmetik oder Arzneien als „CI 77891“ und im Farbenbereich als „PW6“ oder „Pigment White 6“.
Der Zusatzstoff besteht aus sogenannten Nanopartikeln aus Titandioxid und soll Lebensmittel optisch ansprechender gestalten. Forscher warnen seit längerem, dass die besonders kleinen Teilchen Entzündungen fördern und Krebserkrankungen begünstigen könnten. Im Jahr 2010 entdeckten Wissenschaftler aus Frankreich und der Schweiz, das Nano-Titandioxid in menschlichen Zellen ähnlich wirkt wie hochgiftige Stoffe wie beispielsweise Asbest.
Titandioxid könnte zu einer Entzündungsreaktion führen, die zu einem hohen oxidativen Stress führt, wodurch Gewebe und DNA geschädigt werden könnte. Seit einigen Jahren steht der Stoff im Verdacht, zur Entwicklung von chronischen Lungenkrankheiten und Krebskrankheiten beizutragen.

Forscher in den USA haben eine neue Methode entwickelt, um die Gehirnschaltkreise zu kontrollieren, die mit komplexen Verhaltensweisen bei Tieren verbunden sind. Sie nutzen die Gentechnik, um ein magnetisiertes Protein zu erzeugen, das bestimmte Gruppen von Nervenzellen aus der Ferne aktiviert.
Zu verstehen, wie das Gehirn Verhalten erzeugt, ist eines der ultimativen Ziele der Neurowissenschaften – und eine ihrer schwierigsten Fragen. The spread of the coronavirus appears to be slowing in India. Cases have fallen for the third day in a row – raising hopes that the worst could soon be over. But deaths from COVID-19 are still rising. More than 4,000 people have again died within a day.
Corpses of COVID-19 victims continue to wash up on the banks of India’s Ganges River. The government is working on boosting vaccine supplies to try and pull the brake on the disaster, which has now claimed the lives of over 270,000 people.
As desperation takes hold in the scramble for covid-19 vaccines and treatment, India’s second wave is also affecting the disposal of the dead.
State officials believe some families are unable to afford the costs of cremation, as demand skyrockets. According to official numbers, India has suffered nearly 4,000 deaths per day for over a week. But the true death toll may be even higher.
There are small signs of improvement. The rapid spread of the virus seems to be slowing – sparking hope that social distancing measures may be starting to have an effect.
More vaccines are also on their way. A second batch of Russia’s Sputnik Vee landed on Sunday. But getting enough vaccine to protect India’s 1.3 billion population will take time.
For now, Indians are left picking up the pieces of the devastation left behind.“

We’re going to react to a famous Indian guru named Sadhguru. I’ve been in India now for some months and I know Sadhguru has a massive reputation here, people really love him here. He’s also got a big reputation worldwide.
In this video a woman from the audience asks him one question about the dairy industry, his response is disgraceful. In this video I explain why this exposed him.
Sadhguru is known for meditation and advice on life, and has been known for giving his opinions on the challenging times the world faces due to the pandemic, the CAA situation in India, and others, he has a lot of influence.“
